Musical Mayhem?

Hopefully I will take delivery of a Danelectro 12 string in the next few days, so look out world!

  1. It arrived and I'm test-driving. Takes a bit of getting used to and checking out the electrics tomorrow. Having fun!

  2. Setting the guitar up now. Better action required. Had to take strings and neck off to get at truss-rod. Re-stringing now but may have to undergo process again as I put a bit of packing behind the neck which may prove not to be necessary. However, if it's out of tune, tune it up, as the Lone Groover used to say.....

  3. Ooops - that should be TURN it up, not tune. Anyway. slowly getting there. Have to re-set the neck each time with the truss-rod which is only accessible when neck is taken off body as strings seem to pull it out of whack. Neck still slightly bowed (convex) but getting better playability. Retaining pitch better & better. Tightened machine heads and will be looking at individual srting heights and 'octave' settings in due course which will all take a bit of time. But the thing seems to be getting much more playable and responsive as a result, so all the efforts would appear to be worth it......

  4. More or less there. It seems to be holding its tuning pretty well, but the neck is still ever-so-slightly bowed so I might dismantle the instrument to adjust the truss-rod a tad more. Bit of a palaver but might be worth it.

  5. .... BUT..... I'm now working on a new song and have turned to my trusty old Pignose guitar whereby I can get a great sound in Garage Band via Stealth Plug. I fixed the neck and action on that beast and it's a lot easier to play especially if I want to bash ideas down fast. Will use the Danelectro to achieve a fuller sound of course, when I've finalised the structure and arrangement. New song turning out very well: trash pop that I'm very pleased with. Could be a worthy successor to DTSS!
